March 2024 - Italian Wines
Our sommelier, Gabriel Ballentine, will guide our tastings and lessons for our Italian Wines event on March 3, 2024
Wines
We will greet you with Limoncello in a small, simple, and elegant cocktail made with : Maschio Extra Dry Prosecco DOCG (served as a limoncello cocktail) Our selection is fruity and floral with intense aromas and light notes of peach, apricot and honeysuckle. With a touch of sweetness, this prosecco will always be a heart stealer as a starter to any gathering.
2016 Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, DOCG
Amarone Della Valpolicella wines hail from Verona. This is a rich dry wine made from partially dried grapes. The grapes are a blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and other approved red varietals. Our selection is a deep garnet, velvety red color. Aromas are wild-Cherry Jam, spice, and hints of Cedar. On the palate, the wine is rich and dry with black-Cherry flavors, with a round and long finish of Cacao and spice notes.
2018 Marina Cvetic Montepulciani D’Abruzzo Riserva, DOC
This wine was selected for its intense and remarkable expression of Montepulciano. This 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo comes from eight vineyards on the Masciarelli estate. The wine shows the complex aroma of crushed black fruit, dried lemon peel. It is full bodied on the palate; the intense fruit taste coats the medium grain tannins. The finish is long and fruity.
2019 Criterion Barolo DOCG
TASTING NOTES
Criterion Barolo DOCG is an experience akin to that of the most classic of Barolos. The color is light to medium with garnet tones and hints of rich bronze, leading to a brick orange rim. Aromas of wild red fruits overlaid with rose and tarry notes are joined harmoniously with scents of dried herbs, leather, truffle, and sweet spice. On the palate the flavor is rich and full in body with luscious red fruit, firm acid and velvety tannins, all which lead to a silky and luxuriously long finish.
WINEMAKING NOTES
Fermented in stainless steel for 15 days in a controlled temperature at 72-78 ˚F using classic maceration. Aged for 24-months in Slovenian oak casks and French barriques.
2022 CaMaiol Lugano DOP
Made from 100% Trebbiano di Lugano grapes. This wine has a beautiful straw color with a greenish reflection. It presents a delicately dry, fresh with a saline hint. From the layered clay soil, we get aromas of delicate perfume with hints of almond and dapple. The finish is long and layered.
